How Much Mixture Will I Need?
9th January 2018We often get asked "How much mixture will I need for this tin?" and it's a tricky question to answer without knowing your mixture and the tins you use. This method gives you a way of working out how much mixture you will approximately need when using a new tin, it's particularly helpful when judging novelty tins, like giant cupcakes and cars (you can check out our tins to hire here!)
- Take out your usual tin and fill with water to the level your mixture reaches
- Tip this water into your new tin until it reaches two thirds of the way up (if your mixture rises well you can fill just below this)
- The amount of water that is left in the tin is the amount you need to reduce your mixture by, e.g. if there is one third of the mixture left, make two thirds of your mixture to fill the new tin.
- If your usual tin is smaller than your new tin you will need to refill it until the new tin is full, this will then give you the amount you need to increase your mixture by, e.g., it takes two and a half times to fill the new tin, you need to do two and a half times your mixture.
