Choosing Your Dream Wedding Cake
26th January 2019Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Planning a wedding can lead to a LOT of questions... when will you have it, where will it be, will your twice-removed cousin be invited, will you be having a traditional ceremony, are you going to have fruit cake... the list goes on! This quick tip is aimed to help you on your journey for choosing your dream wedding cake!
1. Colour
A lot of couples prefer to match their cake to the colour scheme of the wedding, bringing accents of colour through ribbons, flowers and more. This butterfly design is the perfect example of bringing your colourscheme through. However don't be affraid to go for all white, cream or something completely colourful too if that's more to your liking!
2. Research
This may sound like a silly point but look into lots of different styles of cakes, you can visit our gallery page for images of wedding cakes we have created in the past. You can also browse on pinterest and our instagram too if social media is more your thing. We're happy to take insipration from lots of different cakes you have seen and make them into one dream cake for you so don't feel limited by thinking you need to choose just one design.
3. Why not add some fun?
This may not be for all couples, but there's tonnes of ways to add a little fun into your wedding cake design. In store our team can handcraft bespoke toppers to look like both of you... the great part about that is we can personalise everything from eye colour to height different and even the colour of your flowers. If you're willing to go even a little futher there are so many twists on the incredible reveal cakes, like the half and half option or the more classic looking white and gold number with Star Wars, Harry Potter and Superhero inspiration!
4. Pick the size you love
If you're worried about having too many or too little portions there are ways around that. The best advice is to pick the size & shape of the cake you love then our team can either use polystyrene dummy cakes to decrease the number of portions or add in plainly decorated cutting cakes which are kept in the kitchen to increase the number of portions.
5. Flavour
Whether you love cake or hate it (sob) you have plenty of choices when it comes to selecting the perfect flavour(s) for your wedding cake. If you're having more than one tier you're not limited to having just one flavour you can mix it up. Our flavours include Vanilla, Chocolate, Red Velvet, Toffee, Eggless, Lemon, Carrot, Death by Chocolate, & Fruit cake! Each come with a recommended filling, however if you would like we can change the filling around for something to suit your pallette more!
6. Get in Touch
It's always helpful to visit us to have a consultation, this way we can really talk through your preferences on style and size and show you all the options we can make and options we have ready made in store too.
