Getting the Best Out of Edible Photo Plaques

Edible photo plaques are a great way to personalise celebration cakes or cupcakes. Our plaques are printed onto edible icing sheets and not wafer paper  - these tips are for icing as wafer paper is much thinner and requires different handling.

Here are a few tips on how to get the best out of edible icing sheet images:

Do

✅ Keep the icing sheet flat,  covered and stored in a cool dry place before use

✅ Consider coating the back of the plaque in melted chocolate or edible glaze if applying to buttercream

✅ Use sharp scissors to cut around your pictures

✅ Remove the plastic backing before use

✅ Moisten the back of the plaque slightly with water / edible glue before sticking to fondant icing

Don't

🚫 Don't use a photo that is very light or dark as it may not print well on icing

🚫 Don't get water / moisture on the front of the icing sheet as the ink will run

🚫 Don't try cutting out your images using an icing cutter or craft knife - you are unlikely to get clean edges

🚫 Don't store cakes with edible photos in the fridge, the plaque will melt in the fridge
